One of the tributaries of Shelton Laurel is a “wild water” with native trout. Big Creek, is 5 to 6 miles long and ranges from 12 to 15 feet wide. It has a fair population of native rainbow trout. The other tributary is Mill Creek and it is hatchery-supported. Mill Creek enters at the Carmen Church of God and it is about 2 to 3 miles long. It runs from Hot Springs up to the Pisgah National Forest Boundary.
