Paint Creek Loop
27 Miles
After parking in Downtown Hot Springs riders make their way over the bridge to the north side of the French Broad river where they then turn left on River Road. River Road is a flat, lightly trafficked road half paved and half gravel. This stretch takes riders along the French Broad River and is known for being one of the most diverse butterfly spotting locations in North Carolina. Following the river for 5 miles, the route arrives at the paved Paint Creek Corridor. Riders take the left path upwards and begin a relaxed ride through the rolling hills of the Paint Creek Loop.
After several miles cyclists will meet up with the creek that feeds into the French Broad River. This road follows the creek all the way back to River Road. Riders will pass several scenic falls in this length of the route. Upon reaching the graveled River Road riders are only 5 miles away from Hot Springs and the start/finish of the ride.
