Marshall is a true hidden gem in Western North Carolina. This quiet, riverside town hosts a number of fun annual events as well as weekly activities to be enjoyed. The charming downtown is lined with restored buildings that are now home to an assortment of mesmerizing galleries, querky shops, excellent restaurants and lively bars. All of this resides along the shore of the scenic French Broad River. It’s no surprise that more and more folks continue to flock to Marshall to see what all the talk is about.

Relax along the tranquil river
If the French Broad River in Marshall isn’t quite your style, just 15 minutes north of Downtown Marshall is one of the most peaceful and private hikes outside of Asheville, NC. The Laurel River Trail is a shady and flat hike that runs along this secluded river and will wash away all your worries.
If you need a break from the hustle and bustle, the Laurel River Trail will be exactly what you’re looking for. The trail runs 3.5 miles along the river and is popular for fly-fishing. Bring some snacks and enjoy a gorgeous picnic along the river where the only thing you’ll hear is the babble of the water and the rustling wind through the trees.
